About Us

Dr. Jose Alejandro Lopez was born and raised in Colombia. He obtained his DDS at Universidad Autonoma de Manizales in 2000 in Colombia. He moved to New York in 2000, and after working for several years in the dental field, he completed a fellowship in Translational Orthodontic Research and a postgraduate program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at New York University College of Dentistry. His pursuit of knowledge led him to a residency at Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester where he also served as a teaching assistant in Orthodontics. He currently serves as a part time clinical assistant Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at CTOR Academy in Hoboken, New Jersey. Throughout his career, Dr. Alejandro has collaborated with renowned experts in bone growth, airway dynamics, and orthodontic movement in both New York City and Hoboken, NJ. Dr. Alejandro’s philosophy centers on early interceptive orthodontic treatments as he advocates for stimulating bone growth, correcting jaw position and facilitating the eruption of permanent teeth to prevent lengthy orthodontic treatments and most importantly, to prevent future surgeries. Embracing a multidisciplinary approach, Dr. Alejandro collaborates with ENTs, orofacial myofunctional therapist, speech pathologist and physical therapist to address dentofacial issues comprehensively. His goal is to enhance the upper and lower jaw size, correct jaw position, improve airway function, establish proper tongue position, and optimize chewing and swallowing patterns. Additionally, during his residency at New York University, Dr. Alejandro contributed to the field with publications focusing on accelerated orthodontic tooth movements. In his practice, Dr. Alejandro harnesses the power of Clear Aligner Technolgy when it is appropriate, utilizing clear aligner therapy to enhance tooth position and brighten patient’s smiles. In his spare time, Dr. Alejandro is an avid enthusiast of exercise and soccer. He enjoys cooking, eating in different restaurants, staying active and finds relaxation in watching soccer matches.
